Thank you for your support! I look forward to serving as your District Attorney!

Katie Woods Boggeman Republican For 97th District Attorney

All of my life I have worked toward my goal of being an attorney, most importantly a criminal attorney. It is what God has put in my heart. My hope is to bring my experience and willingness to try the hard cases for our counties. I make no promises of perfection, but I do promise a wholehearted effort on my part if I were elected as your next District Attorney.

Katie has tried and handled high level felony cases such as Aggravated Sexual Assaults, Aggravated Assault SBI, Intoxication Manslaughter, Arson and other felonies.

Meet Katie

Although Katie was not born in Texas, she got here as fast as she could and has not looked back. Katie was raised on a small horse ranch in California where she showed livestock and competed in numerous horse disciplines throughout her youth. Growing up in the rodeo world, Katie held her first rodeo queen title at twelve years old. Katie feels honored that her queening journey hit its peak when she traveled across the Country promoting the International Professional Rodeo Association in 2004 as Miss Rodeo USA. Katie attributes her success at impromptu speaking and public speaking to her time representing the sport of rodeo and all of the opportunities that were placed in her path from those experiences.

After hanging up her queen chaps, Katie spent a few years on the Board of the IPRA and 10 years on the Board for the Miss Rodeo USA Organization. During this time, Katie graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Awaiting law school, Katie used her public speaking skills and worked for a small western video production company doing voice-overs and interview work, this is where she met her future husband, Joe Mac Boggeman.

In 2010 Katie obtained a Juris Doctorate from Texas Wesleyan School of Law and worked for almost 5 years as a Criminal Prosecutor in Fort Worth, Texas at the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. While she was at the DA’s office in Fort Worth, Katie tried cases ranging from misdemeanor DWI’s to Intoxication Manslaughter and Murder; with more than thirty jury trials as the primary prosecutor. Katie left the DA’s office in 2015 to come to Clay County and marry her best friend, Joe Mac Boggeman, who is a Clay County native, and this is where they are raising their children.

For the last 8 years Katie has operated her own law practice, The Woods Firm, Inc., where she handles criminal defense, probate, tax, and contract cases, preparation of wills and other special appointments.

One thing that sets Katie apart is her willingness to take things head on. She is not afraid to try challenging cases, nor is she afraid to put the work in to manage a large caseload. In private practice, Katie has continued gaining trial experience trying tough Sexual Assault cases, Intoxication Manslaughter, Aggravated Assault cases and more. Having tried Felony cases as both a criminal prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney, gives Katie a great ability to assess cases, spot trial issues and move forward on cases with confidence. Katie has always had the desire to return to prosecution and this is the time to step up to the task as your next District Attorney of the 97th Judicial District for Clay, Archer and Montague Counties.

Experience

Katie graduated from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2010 and went to work at the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office where she had 50 Jury Trials, cases that included Murder, Intoxication Manslaughter, Aggravated Assault, DWI’s, and Indecent Exposure. She spent 15 months with the specialized Family Violence Unit and handled one Felony Appellate brief on Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

Currently, Katie is a solo practitioner that manages her own general practice law firm focusing on Criminal Defense. For the past seven (7+) years Katie has had a strong focus on indigent criminal defense work. Katie has represented individuals on cases ranging from First Degree Felonies to Misdemeanor offenses. In addition to Criminal Defense, for the last three years Katie has worked as General Counsel for JAC Electrical Co-Op. In addition to her legal career, Katie is a wife, mother of two, and a rancher with an avid interest in the equine community.
